Motivating a mind to help you achieve your goals takes persistence on your part. You have to learn how to influence your subconscious mind so that it will bring you the things you wish to achieve. How can you do that you ask? Through repeatedly telling it over what you desire. You must not only tell it what you desire, you must tell it with emotions as well. If you just talk to yourself with absolutely no emotions you will have no effect on it at all. Motivating a mind takes consistent action if you wish to influence it to help you achieve your goals.
Personal development will teach you several techniques you can use everyday. Are you watching too much television and doing things that will not motivate you to achieve your goals. One of the most important things you can do for yourself before you can even begin motivating a mind to help you reach your goals. You must first set a goal that is a burning desire for you to reach it. Without a goal that you desire to accomplish and you can actually see yourself doing whatever it is you desire. Chances are you will quit at the first sign of adversity.
Find a mentor that you can follow and do whatever it is they did to achieve their success. This will create a path for you to follow as opposed to creating your own path. Read as much positive books that teach you that you can be do have anything you desire. If you do not have enough time to read then purchase a cd that you can listen to while in your car. It is much easier to motivate your mind and achieve what you desire. The only reason more people do not do it is because it is more mental work than you realize. It does take continuous work and most people are lazy when it comes to mental work.
They just take in what society gives them and do not attempt to change the negative thoughts to positive thoughts. If you have more negative thoughts going through to your subconscious mind chances are you will motivate your mind to give you the negative. You have to learn how to engrave positve into your subconscious mind to see that in your life. If you do not believe you can influence your subconscious; then take a look at your life how does it look? Are there areas you are struggling with and facing adversity? If so it is probably because you have spent so much time focusing on negative more often than you do the positive.
Do not become discouraged a lot of people do this without even realizing what they are doing. However whatever you are facing and if things are not going the way you would like them to go; you can change them. Just begin the process to change where you are placing your thoughts and before you know it things will begin getting better for you in all areas of your life.

Too often, we are afraid to take actions towards our goals, even though we know by taking massive actions it will lead us to what we wanted. Procrastination is the number one killer in our road to success. Most of us will stop trying after we found out that what we’ve been doing is not working. So is it that what we do is not working? Or is it that we are just afraid of failing again and we procrastinate?
Now, listen to this story. A long time ago, scientists carried out an experiment on a barracuda (some kind of fish). They put the barracuda in a huge aquarium, and start to feed it with small fish. Of course, once the barracuda sees small fish, it will swim to them and swallow the small fish in one gulp. And one day, the scientists put a glass partition inside the aquarium, which separate the small fish and the barracuda. Again, once the scientists put in small fish, but this time, it is in the opposite portion of the aquarium which the barracuda cannot reach. Now, the barracuda will still swim to its food, but it will hit the glass partition. The barracuda was puzzled in the first moment, but it kept trying on.
The barracuda kept on trying and trying, but it kept on failing and hitting the glass partition. Then until one day, it stopped trying. And the scientist removed the glass partition, the small fish were released and swim all across the aquarium. The amazing thing happened here is that the barracuda did not try to go for the fish. It has been conditioned in such a way that it is impossible to reach those small fish. In the end, the barracuda died of hunger, but it was actually surrounded by lot of food.
It is exactly just like a barracuda; many of us will stop trying once we’ve experience failure in the past. It does not mean that if we fail in the past, we are going to fail again in the future. However, many of us conditioned ourselves just like the barracuda. Once we failed to make money online, we will think that making money online is just not our way. In fact, the reason that we fail is because we did not use the right strategy. Einstein defines crazy as “doing the same thing over and over again but hope to achieve different results”. If you fail, it is because what you’re doing is inaccurate, your strategy is not correct.
So stop being dragged down by your phobia of losing and failing again. The history does not equal the future. It does not mean that you are going to fail all the time, a winner will never quit and a quitter will never win. If you fall down today, it does not matter, just stand up and go for it again. Just like Thomas Edison, he failed more than 10,000 times before he finally successfully invented the light bulb. Did you think that without all the failures, he is going to invent the light bulb? Not at all, it is the failure that leads him the right way to invent the light bulb.
So you see, failure does not mean that you are losing. In fact, the more you fail, the nearer you are to success. That is why successful people fail more than ordinary people. The difference between ordinary people and successful people are that how they respond to failure. Successful people treat failure as feedback, what about you?

The fundamental idea behind NLP is to be able to create new models of excellence.
In this article, we will talk about how to keep hold of your vision, your focus and motivation over a long period of time. Most NLP modelling takes a small slice of ability from an expert, and we learn how to replicate it. For example, how a trainer opens a course.
I have known Romilla Ready, the co-author of NLP for Dummies for a long time, and I have learnt a lot from her just by watching her published her first book, Neurolinguistic Programming for Dummies.
It took Romilla over a year to get the publisher interested. During that period, she lost her original co-author. Once through these problems, she not only had to set about writing her first book. But she also took it to be in the UK’s best-selling Dummies book. Now the publisher has asked her to write the NLP for dummies workbook, which will be on sale in April 2008.
It was useful to see how Romilla maintained her motivation, her focus and drive to see this project through. Having modelled some of her approaches. I have found them very useful in my own life.
Thinking big is one of the things that Romilla does. She has strong values and lives by them. This applies to her writing the book, Romilla is interested in affecting global change and NLP for Dummies is part of that issue. In fact
the book is only a stepping stone to much bigger things. Consider the implications of being constantly in touch with your values. One way of staying motivated, is understanding how every little task is moving you towards your vision.
By understanding this book is only one part of the bigger plan allows Romilla to keep things in proportion.
In discussions with Romilla, I have noticed that she looks at things from a learning experience. She has mentioned many times how much she is learned about writing, about NLPand about publishing through the experience of writing thisbook. An attitude like this allows you to be imperfect, ask questions, and take every mistake is an opportunity to grow. It is easy to see that in any new venture there will be mistakes and having a learning attitude will allow you to learn and roll with any setbacks.
The book NLP for Dummies only got written, because Romilla had a sense of discipline and consistency. I noticed that Romilla set out to do a little each time, but to do this often. This meant that she was not overwhelmed by having to block out huge amounts of time. This also meant that she got very practised at writing consistently every day. This means your unconscious mind gets used to a habit and helps to keep the momentum going.
A lot of what I have noticed about Romilla, and her approach to writing has helped me personally. I connect with my global mission and deliberately do so when I’m faced with tasks I don’t like, when I am not feeling like working. And when I’m frustrated. These days, I feel more like the journey is worth travelling even when I am doing those tasks I don’t particularly enjoy.
I have gained these insights not in the traditional form of NLP Modelling, but looking at wider and deeper than just a small element of behaviour. By going on a good NLP Practitioner Course you will learn how to seek deeper
underneath a person’s behaviour and understand how values, beliefs and strategies drive behaviour. You can then use this to create models of excellence.
Romilla’s book Neurolinguistic Programming for Dummies is a good introduction to NLP, and you can find out lots more about NLP techniques and Romilla’s latest ventures on my website.

I remember during my days as a practicing alcoholic how I always wanted to put off what I knew I had to do. Every person of addiction knows they are wrong. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that alcohol and drugs are destroying everything around them, but try as we might we can’t quite get ourselves to make a commitment to stop. We know why we drink and use and we are convinced we can’t live without it.
The reality is if we don’t stop life becomes less and less enjoyable. We work to drink and use and drinking and using is work. It takes everything out of us and yet you would think it was our friend instead of the enemy we know deep down inside that it is.
The question then becomes are you an alcoholic or drug addict? If you know that you are or at least you are losing the ability to control your drinking or using then why not do something about it now? Why wait until the wife or husband leaves? Why wait until someone comes and takes the kids away or you lose another job or something or someone near and dear to you?
If you don’t do something now, then when? What is it going to take for you? What are you going to have to lose before you get it? I hope you don’t have to suffer as I suffered before I finally understood- if not now, then when. Alcoholism and drug addiction is a terrible thing.
I have met many people who suffered far greater than I and they are now recovered. Just like me they woke up one day and said “when” is now and they never looked back. Won’t you join us?
All it takes is being sick and tired of being sick and tired and finding something or someone who can help you. It really doesn’t matter so much what you choose to believe in as your means of help, as much as it matters that you believe. The “Big Book” of Alcoholics Anonymous does say that it ought to make sense.
Let’s just make this year your year to stop the madness, get off the merry-go-round of addiction and on the road to recovery.

Many people want to change their lives but are unwilling to do anything about it. They continue living life the same way they have always lived it. You must realize that if you continue doing what you have always done you will always continue getting the same results you have always gotten. You can change you life today however you must realize that you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to make it a reality.
For instance you must be willing to take full responsibility of where you are. If you are struggling in any area of your life; you have to realize and be willing to admit that you are there because you have put yourself there. People love to blame others for their situation; because it makes them feel like it is not their fault and they do not have to take responsibility. It is kind of like an alcoholic attempting to get help and quit drinking. If you continue to deny that you have a problem then you will never be able to help yourself.
In order for you to change your life today you must begin to develop a more positive attitude. This alone will help you achieve a lot more than what you have already have achieved. Once you develop a positive attitude you will begin to look for all the great things in life that are going wonderful for you. You will begin to overlook the not so great things in your life. Gratitude for everything plays an important role in your life whether you will acommplish your goals or not. Without gratitude it is impossible to achieve anything different. If you are not living the life you desire you must learn how to be grateful for everything regardless if it is something you truly desire or not.
Besides being more positive or developing more gratitude in your life; to change your life today you must also begin modeling other successful people who have taken the same road before you and have become successful. If you want to become a successful doctor then you would model what other successful doctors have done to achieve that status. It makes your journey much easier because you will have a path to follow. We all require mentors in our lives because they can help you avoid mistakes that they made and make your journey that much quicker.
Do not get me wrong; I do not want you to think that your success will happen overnight. All successful people have failed in their lives at one time or another. The thing that makes successful unique from people who are not successful is that they do not quit because they have failed at one venture or another. All successful people know what they desire and they know that if they keep persisting towards their goals they will eventually achieve them. You too can change your life today and begin achieving anything you desire; you just have to be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it.
If you want to change your life today check out the website below it is jam packed with all kinds of personal development programs that will literally change your life.

2008 is now almost here and it is time to start looking forward to the New Year. Just what do you want from the coming year? How sure are you to achieve your New Year resolutions?
Getting a fresh start with the New Year is an artificial custom - you can begin to get the life you love and live it at any time you choose. But let the first of January 2008 be the starting point for a new you. Envision yourself at the end of the year and describe at least 3 achievements you would like to have achieved to make you feel that 2008 had been a successful one.
Maybe this year you are going to find work that you love. Or you may want to excel even more at the job you love. How about getting a good balance between your work and leisure time? What about galvanising your financial situation? How about finding and committing to a dream relationship?
Get motivated right now to make the most of 2008 and indeed the rest of your life. Believe in yourself. Know that you can do and have anything you want. Ooze with self belief and others too will believe in you. Go all out for it in 2008!
Here are some tips to help you achieve your goals and to make 2008 your best year ever.
1. Spend some quality time on your own and reflect on your goals in all areas of your life — short, medium and long term. Write these down — you increase your chances of materialising them, once written down. Be very specific, and as descriptive as you can.
2. Write down your three main goals in big bold letters and hang up next to your bedside, in the kitchen, by your pc etc. Having them visible like this keeps in the forefront of your mind exactly what you need to achieve by when, and what you must do to make it happen.
3. Identify quickly the key steps in the first three months of 2008 to move you towards your goals. Make the steps realistic for the time frame, but ones that stretch you at the same time. Track your progress on a regular basis, maybe on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
4. Create an action plan and take regular action. Start today and if possible, start right away. Take that first step — you will immediately generate a lot of enthusiasm & confidence in this and other areas of your life. Do not wait around to be inspired — just get on with doing things, even if it is a small step and that will lead to further steps.
5. Look at your life in a new way. For example, plan to make all the money you need in 2008 within the first six months. Develop a new theme for the year such as making it “debt free” or “most chilled out ever”. At the same time, ensure you give yourself enough nurturing time — book your holidays right now and plan to spend quality weekends with your loved ones.
6. Let go of things that drain you. Look at those situations, places, people or anything else that drain your energy, and eliminate them gradually.
7. Establish a support team around you. Make yourself accountable to someone who resonates with your goals and will support you in achieving them. Find like minded people - and develop powerful, supportive and energising relationships. This may require you to upgrade your friends and build new relationships.
8. Learn from your role models. Emulate those who have already achieved what you are aspiring to. Apply their lessons and principles to yourself, and thereby fast track your achievements in 2008.
9. Spruce up your image. Look at everything about you such as your clothes, haircut and other things about your personal brand. Start giving the impression of being successful and you will be during the course of 2008.
10. Keep your cool and chill out. You may get overwhelmed at times and find that there is just not sufficient time for everything. Review your commitments and priorities and refocus on the most important steps.
11. Celebrate your successes. Acknowledge yourself and know that you are doing really well. Reward and pamper yourself. Choose to celebrate in the best way for you.
12. Find ways to excel and to improve yourself. There are numerous self help resources around you such as books, magazines, websites and so on. Make 2008 the year that you evolve, grow and fulfil your potential.
Most importantly remember at all times to be kind and gentle with yourself in 2008. Have patience and let your life unfold like a budding flower. Laugh a lot — after all life is meant to be fun. Develop a sense of humour and do not take life so seriously.
It is never too late or too early to have a great year. Start 2008 the way you want to carry on during the rest of the year.
I wish you all a fabulous New Year. Make 2008 your best year ever. Get the life you love and live it — you know you deserve it.
Here are my final words for you to inspire you in 2008 - and for the rest of your life:-
“Remember that your life counts — and make it count. You are unique. There is no one like you on this planet. Never has been and never will be.
Do not sell your self short. Do not sell the world short. This is your life — love it, live it. One life, one chance — grab it.
Get the life you love — and live it.”

Take this simple strategy to open a path in your life inside the word MOTIVATION.
M — Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.
O — Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways — how they want things to be, and how they should be.
T — Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.
I — Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people — the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.
V — Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.
A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
T — Take your time. Continues improvement is more important than rapid change that doesn’t last long.
I — Inspired people around you. Sometimes the self motivation comes when we try to inspired people around us.
O — Offside. Take some times to enjoy a holiday. Motivation takes place when people are happy.
N — Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

We are at that time of year again. The New Year, where we make our resolutions for what we want to see accomplished in the next year. You know what they are, “I am going to loose ten pounds,” “I am going to stop smoking,” “I am going to make more money,” and the list goes on. While I do not have an exact statistic for how many of our yearly resolutions are not followed through on I figure it is safe to say that more than half of them never are fulfilled.
I may even go as far as to say that each year, most of us have the same resolutions we had the year before but this time we say, “This will be the year it will happen.” Well, why don’t you make this the year that it does happen? Instead of repeating the same thing over and over again while expecting the outcome to be different, by the way did you know that is the definition of insanity, so something different.
Most people fail to achieve their resolutions for one major reason, they are so focused on the end result that they never spend the time to figure out why they do not already have those things… or how they are going to get them. To achieve your goals, your resolutions, what you need to be do is create new habits. See if what you want is to keep getting what you’re getting, then keep doing what you’re doing.
So how do you create a habit? Well, I have two amazingly simple yet powerful recommendations. The use of affirmations and visualizations, it is really that simple. On a piece of paper write down in a positive manner what it is you want to change. Once you have this written down, you need to repeat this affirmation ten, twenty a hundred times a day every day. Whether you say it out loud or silently is up to you.
Ok, now that you have your affirmation and you are repeating it often each day, you now need to visualize yourself dong this habit. Make sure that your visualization is very vivid and employs all five senses. Your visualization only needs to take 15 minutes and it will completely change your life. Following those two simple steps will help you break the bad habits that you have and help you stick to your new year’s resolution. Using these two steps together can be incredibly powerful.
Consistency is the key to creating a habit. You should know that in order for something to become a habit it has to be something that guides your actions. It isn’t something that you have to think about doing. Your habits are domain of the subconscious mind. Therefore in order to create a new habit you must first understand why you have your old habit. It is time to stop living life subconsciously, do not be a product of your unhealthy habit.
This is the year that you will create new habits and have the life that you want.
Were you happy with 2007? If not, create new habits in 2008 and make it the best year of your life. http://www.NewHabitsIn08.com

Anthony Robbins has introduced more people to NLP than anyone else I can think of. And while many practicioners of NLP frequently dismiss him as being no more than a showman, a businessman or a “disco” NLPer, we can still learn much from him. I for one have participated in almost all of his trainings, for reasons I’ll explain in greater details in this article.
1. Model. Anthony Robbins achieved what he achieved because he understood and practices constantly the first directive of NLP, which I’ve discussed at length in another article: the core discipline of NLP is modeling. In an interview, John Grinder retells of the days when Anthony Robbins was his student. He recounts that once the seminar ended, Tony approached him and said he understood that modeling lied at the heart of NLP and that he was committed to modeling. He then asked Grinder what project he could undertake to prove his commitment. John Grinder suggested firewalking. “The rest,” as Grinder puts it, “is history.” Anthony Robbins is primarily a modeler and you must adopt this identity.
2. Do what works. In his seminars, Anthony Robbins amply demonstrates his change techniques. The advanced student of NLP can distinguish therapeutic patterns that NLP has coded in his interventions, but also some different patterns that he created or incorporated from other fields into his work. The most important trait that he demonstrates during his intervention is his absolute commitment to getting the result that he’s after, notably to move another human being into a place of greater access to inner resources. And he’s a master at doing this.
3. Involve physiology at all times. Few if any other trainers focus on physiology as fiercely and intensely as Anthony Robbins does. The only one I’ve come across who focuses as intently on physiology is the man who taught him NLP: John Grinder. To him, physiology defines the limits of a person’s access to his or her resources. That’s why he pushes and stretches all participants in his seminars to get to their physical edge. Because he understands that, due to the mind-body connection, you can only go as far as your physiology permits it.
4. Learn from and pay attention to John Grinder. This lesson is perhaps the strangest or most uncommon of all. But you must attend to it. Of all the early students of NLP, Anthony Robbins is far and away the most successful. This is not to say that he is the best teacher of NLP or that he has reached a greater refinement in exercising his skills. But he has leveraged his mastery to accomplish more than any other student of NLP in the world. And his NLP master was John Grinder.Richard Bandler is far and away the most popular of the two co-founders of NLP. The term “Richard Bandler” receives more than 10,000 searches a month, while “John Grinder” receives less than 2,000. His creativity and mastery of language keeps seminar participants spellbound during days. I acknowledge Bandler as the creative force behind NLP. Yet, Bandler lacks the health, discipline and vitality that I’d expect from someone who has mastered NLP.
That’s where John Grinder shows up. Well in his sixties, he actively involves himself in challenging physical activities such as climbing and scuba diving, constantly pushing his edge. And while I’ve never heard or seen him display the verbal prowesses that Bandler displays, he is a much more inspiring model overall to aspire to. I recognize him to be the organizing, disciplined and directive force behind NLP. And this distinction is absolutely fundamental. Anthony Robbins has benefitted from this.
If you’re new to NLP, don’t be too quick to judge Anthony Robbins. Many people in the field trash him day in day out. The most important thing to keep in mind is to learn from Anthony Robbins by watching him, as opposed to listening to what he teaches. Observe how he works. Observe his movements. Observe his posture. Feel his intensity. Hear his tonality. In other words, model him. Just as Grinder and Bandler paid little attention to what Milton Erickson had to say about hypnosis and a lot of attention to what he did to produce results.
Anthony Robbins is a genius at producing change within people (and also marketing himself and his products) and for that reason, you’ll find it worth your time to model him.
Steve Bauer specializes in teaching NLP to beginners. His primary area of interest is applying NLP distinctions to education and teaching NLP skills to high school students. If you’re new to NLP, check out his report on The Number 1 NLP Skill You Must Master on his website at http://www.howtomasternlp.com. You’ll likely find it very useful and a time saver.
