I wanna read good news good news

I wanna be innocent again

I wanna read good news good news

But nothing good is happening

“Good News” performed by Something Corporate

When “60 Minutes” interviewed Captain Sully about his now-infamous Hudson River landing, Katie Couric asked him why the story of Flight 1549 is so captivating to Americans. While I would have laughed at the obvious nature of her question, Sully’s response was the first right-on thing I had heard in a long time. He told her that people really want more “good news” in their lives.

I couldn’t agree more. We have an economy in the sh*tter, two ongoing wars, climate change and crazy mothers giving birth to octuplets. Many of us are choosing to give up reading the news entirely. “I’d rather have a barium enema than watch CNN,” a friend told me yesterday. Not a bad idea given that the government will soon bail out the enema industry.

Earlier this week on NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams asked his viewers to suggest good news about which he and his team could report. Apparently, Williams received thousands of responses. He told the Associated Press that one viewer wrote: “We all know it’s bad, but the news makes us feel like crawling under a rock.”

Before you look for a shovel to begin digging your new home under that rock, take a moment to pay attention to the positive actions of your family, friends, colleagues and neighbors. While we will see some viewer good news air on NBC next week, Williams will not be able to air thousands of stories. So, when you see someone you know commit a random act of kindness, share it with us!

Unlike NBC, we are not restricted to 60-second reports once a day — bookended with murders, killings, disease and economic sob stories. We will print thousands of your stories about random acts of kindness you witness around our world. I repeat — thousands!

All you need to do is submit your Random Act of Kindness to: editor@tonic.com.
Your good news is here. Someone let Something Corporate know so they can change their lyrics.

Anthony Robbins as a Teacher of NLP

Tuesday 7 April 2009 @ 3:04 am

by Seminar Review
Some people don’t think of Tony Robbins as a serious teacher of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). They consider him a mere showman. However, Tony has been teaching the principles of NLP for a very long time, and has introduced millions of people to the concepts. I have personally attended his seminars, and I know that I have learned a great deal about NLP from him. You simply can’t deny that he has distinguished himself in this field.

Anthony Robbins has led a very successful life, and he owes much his success to the fact that he was a devoted student of John Grinder, one of the co-founders of NLP. Tony used the principle of “Modeling” to begin his transformation. He attended a workshop of Grinder’s and took the principle of modeling to heart. After the workshop was over, Tony spoke to Grinder about how he could use the principle himself. Grinder saw that he was serious about wanting to learn, so he gave him some advice. He told Tony that he should try firewalking, and the rest is history.

One thing about Anthony Robbins is that he gets results. He uses a variety of methods along with traditional NLP principles. He is totally committed to actually helping people move in a positive direction. He is able to make changes in people’s lives through his intervention techniques.

One of the things that he learned from John Grinder is that one must have a healthy body in order to have a strong mind. You cannot separate the physiological from the mental part of a person. A strong physiology is essential for inner growth and obtaining a happy and successful life.

You, too, should learn from John Grinder. He is not as famous as the other NLP founder, Richard Bandler, but I believe Grinder is the better person to model. Bandler is intelligent and eloquent in his presentations, but he doesn’t the same degree of physical vitality as Grinder does. Tony is more like Grinder in terms of physical presence. They both have a powerful way of presenting themselves. Because of Grinder’s influence, Tony has become one of the most well-known and widely-followed teachers of Neuro Linguistic Programming in the world today.

Tony was fortunate to have John Grinder as a model for NLP. Grinder is now over sixty years old, but he is remarkably physically active. Bandler may have the edge in eloquence and knowledge, but Grinder is the better example of a balanced human being. You can learn just by watching the way he carries himself. This is also what Anthony Robbins possesses, and this is why I believe he is one of the best models anyone can have.

It’s a mistake to dismiss Anthony Robbins as a true expert of NLP. His own success speaks for itself. Through his books, videos, and seminars he has helped millions to lead more successful lives.

Anthony Robbins - Lessons to Live By

Monday 6 April 2009 @ 4:04 pm

by Seminar Review
Tony Robbins has influenced millions of people around the world - including myself. He has helped people make positive changes in their lives through his many inspirational products. Tony is the author of several best selling books and has produced motivational videos that have been purchased by millions of people. He also holds regular workshops in many different countries. Some of his better known products are “Unlimited Power”, “Get the Edge”, “Date with Destiny”, and his “Mastery University” - which I was fortunate enough to have attended most of them. He is one of the most respected self-help coaches on the planet today.

He has many lessons to teach us, but these are some that I believe everyone should understand.

1. One of the best ways to change your emotional state is to change your physical state. If your body feels better, you will almost immediately feel better emotionally. And when you feel good emotionally, you will be in a position to make positive changes in your life as a whole. So pay attention to the way your body feels.

2. Make sure you ask very specific questions in your conversations with yourself. You can direct your attention to the things that will help you improve your life by asking yourself the right kind of questions. Think about the questions that you ask throughout your day - are they helping you focus on achieving what you want, or are they making it seem more difficult.

3. If you get stuck in a pattern that you know is not serving you well, break the pattern by doing something totally different. Do something that will get you out of your slump. You can fine-tune things later, but get away from negative patterns as soon as you recognize them.

4. Condition yourself by using visualization. Imagine where you want to be, and then see yourself being there. Do this constantly. Visualization is one of the most important aspects of Tony’s teachings.

5. Since we are Pain/Pleasure driven beings, make sure you associate negative patterns with pain, and the patterns you want to establish with pleasure. This is something that applies to all aspects of your life - personal or business.

6. Imagine the future that you want - put your attention on the goal. Don’t let what has happened in the past determine how you think about the future. By focusing on achieving your goal you can generate new beliefs that will help you feel enthusiastic about your future.

7. Use the principles of CANI , Constant And Never-ending Improvement, at all times. Focus on making small but steady steps in the direction you want to go.

Anthony Robbins has taught me many things. This is not a complete list, but these are some of the most important aspects of his teachings. Read Tony’s books, watch his videos, or attend a seminar. He is an inspirational figure who can help anyone achieve a more successful life.

Mastering Your Mind Power: Embrace Your Uniqueness

Monday 6 April 2009 @ 3:04 pm

by Former Retiree
As you look around in your world and see the many other humans surrounding you, you may find it difficult to think of yourself as being unique. If you pause and ponder your existence for a time, however, it will become clear to you that you are indeed different from all others.

At the moment of your birth, you alone exited the womb of your mother at the time that you did. Even if you were in a multiple birth situation, you alone exited at the time that you did. You came into the world with a mind that is yours alone. Whatever sights an sounds you witnessed upon your arrival, no one else on earth witnessed what you witnessed or heard what you heard.

As thoughts began to register and form in your mind, no one alive, no one who had ever lived, nor will any one who will ever live know your thoughts. It was from your thoughts that your dreams and desires sprang and continue to spring. Your dreams and desires might seem similar to what other people are experiencing, but they are truly uniquely yours.

It may even seem that Nature (The Universe, God, Allah, Source Energy, Infinite Intelligence, or by whatever name It is called) conspired against you. You came into this world with five senses that were provided by Nature for the purpose of allowing you to navigate your physical surroundings. You were even conditioned to believe that if any experience you had could not be interpreted through one of those senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, or hearing) it simply was not REAL.

Even when you sought to share your thoughts, dreams, and desires with others, they interpreted what you were sharing with them through their own individual filters. Therefore, what you were attempting to share with them was distorted somewhat because of their self image filters. Conversely, the responses from them get somewhat distorted by your filters.

Through no fault of their own, people in your environment, generally, did not know how to account for your thoughts and images that you (and only you) experienced exclusively in your mind. Your five senses could not access them. Other people could not access them. This inner world was yours to do with what ever you pleased. You may have felt isolated which might have prompted you to seek the companionship of others. In exchange for their companionship, you attempted to be like them.

Once again, through no fault of their own, people in your life did not know how to teach (condition) you HOW to use your mind to consciously attract the kinds of situations, conditions, and things you desired, for in all likelihood they did not know how to use their minds either. Whatever you attracted and continue to attract is totally unique to you.

Unfortunately, your environment and the people in it began to slowly strangle the life out of your dreams and desires very early in your life. They began to condition you, with your permission, to be like others in your neighborhood, your school, your church. Later you were influenced by media outlets, television and movies, to forget your desires and adopt the ones they portray.

Embrace your uniqueness. It is the source of all of your individual dreams and desires. If you do not fully appreciate and embrace your own uniqueness, it is almost certain that no one else will. At the present stage of your life, accepting your total self including your unique qualities, is probably going to be a bit of a challenge at first, but please never, never, never give up on developing, embracing, and expressing that uniqueness.

This I know for sure. You can claim or re-claim control of your own mind power. You are the most miraculous of all living beings on earth. You are the owner of a mind that is so stupendous, that as you truly begin mastering your mind power and consciously using it, there is no dream that you can dream that you cannot achieve.

When Parents Control - 3 Keys to Breaking Free from Parental Control

Thursday 2 April 2009 @ 2:04 pm

by Dr. Jeanne King, Ph.D.
A controlling parent can have as much a crippling effect on an adult child as on an intimate partner. And I’m sure you know why.

But help for that adult child is touch and go. There are no shelters for them, yet they have many of the same financial issues as battered women.

If they haven’t risen above their controlling parent’s domination, they can become entrapped victims for life. They remain dependent and often spend their lives seeking out ways to work out their unfinished business around being controlled.

How can you awaken to the toxicity of being controlled by one’s parent? The same way one awakens to the toxicity of being controlled by an intimate partner.

1) Be mindful of the subtle.
The subtle is as significant as the gross. The subtle manipulations are as revealing as the exaggerated obvious ones. And since they show up on an ongoing basis, one doesn’t compartmentalize their devastating effect. They are in your face 24/7 or as long as you expose yourself to the controlling parent.

2) Suspend judgment of yourself (and of them).
Recognize that the parental control is NOT about you. The parental control is about them. Find a way to hold and regard yourself beyond the parental control. And find a way to see and regard your controlling parent beyond their control and beyond their controlling behavior.

3) Find that inner voice that knows your highest good.
When you hear from the inner voice of your utmost longing, you will find your way. You will discover your highest good. Your will become the person you are meant to be, beyond your controlling parent’s domination.

If you are an adult child of a controlling parent and you struggle over control issues with your controlling parent, seek to find ways to understand the dynamics of controlling relationships: Domestic Abuse Dynamics: Identifying Abuse. The sooner you do, the easier it will be for you to break free from being controlled. Jeanne King, Ph.D. helps people recognize, end and heal from domestic abuse. (c)2009 J King

Human Power is our power from within

Wednesday 1 April 2009 @ 9:04 am

by Article Submitter
The day before the Las Vegas marathon, as I lay in my lawn chair trying to maximize my angle to the low December sun, I got to do some deeper thinking about why “human power” is so important to me. I mean, some people really get into WW11 history, some go nuts over collecting wooden toys and some guys build robots. What is it about human power that turns my crank?

Our passions are obviously related to our personalities. Being a typical male, I am hard wired to dig technology; physical activity is my life-blood, and I like the outdoors and to travel. As a young kid, I remember reading a National Geographic feature story about a team who rode their ‘10 speed’ bikes from Argentina to Alaska. I was riveted by their story. This really spoke to me. The whole idea of riding my bicycle distances longer that we had ever driven our family car was something that resonated deeply with me. I read that National Geographic story about a dozen times.

I saved money from my paper route and purchased a brand new ‘10 speed’ bicycle. Wow! It had 10 speeds and drop handle bars just like the ones used in the national geographic bike tour. I rode it everywhere. I duct-taped a transistor radio to my handle bars so I could listen to all the 1970’s hits on CKXL Calgary radio station while I biked the daily 10 mile route from my house in Lakeview (there was no view of any lake) to my downtown paper route.

My passion for riding bikes returned just after I graduated from SAIT- a technical institute where I received a diploma in engineering, and an education in how to party almost every night, and still pass exams. Phil Evans talked me into riding our 10 speed bikes 100 km from Calgary to Banff. I almost died. I remember reaching the lake at Lac Desarc and the lights started to go out. I had almost fainted. I think that trip took us a good 10 hours.

Now I can ride to Banff, do a 15 km trail run, and ride back to Calgary in less than 10 hours. We are the products of our past. Looking back, it’s obvious that I would eventually become involved with the design, construction and application of human powered vehicles in some way. We are who we are, and I mean that LITERALLY!- check this out:

I got a really interesting email yesterday from Paul Kolodziej. In case you didn’t know, my last name is Kolodziejzyk - only 3 letters longer than Paul’s. Paul was reading my article in Popular Science magazine and noticed the similarities in our names. He informed me that in Polish, the name “Kolodziejzyk”, and its various derivatives mean “WHEEL MAKER”.

Human power to me though, is so much more than travel under our own physical capacity. It’s really about ALL of our power as humans. The power to choose, the power to create, the power to succeed, the power to cross continents, the power to cross oceans, the power to motivate, the power to love, the power to care, the power to inspire, the power to learn and the power to grow. Human power is the power within.

Intensive Practice Engraves the Path of Success

Wednesday 1 April 2009 @ 9:04 am

According to Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Outliers”, a very strange coincidence was noticed in a hockey player roster - an unusually large percentage of the players on the team had birthdays in January. The remainder of the team had birthdays in February or March. He looked into it and discovered this strange birthday effect in other sports in other countries around the world. And he also found this effect is other disciplines as well - not just sports. The reason people born early in the year were better at sports, and music and chess and school and many other challenges in life was simple - every time you have a cut-off date to join a group when you are young, those born earlier in the year have a TIME advantage over those born later in the year.

So - in our ‘clever’ system designed to filter through millions of young children to select the best of the best of the best in terms of innate talent for our sports teams, dance competitions, debate teams, piano recitals, etc, what we actually end up doing is simply sorting our kids by month of birth, and singling out those born earlier in the calendar year who are up to a full year older and more mature than the other kids in that 12 month age bracket. When you are 8 years old, 10 months worth of age advantage is a full 10% of your life!

Studies have shown that we BELIEVE we can accomplish something; we are far more likely to invest the time into working toward that goal. Kids in groups, who were told they were the top 10%, practiced an average of 30% MORE than the remainder of the group. And this had nothing to do with talent - it’s just that those children were slightly older than the other kids in the age-grouping and had the benefit of almost a full year of extra practice time under their belts. Since they were singled out each year as the best in their groups, they eagerly increased their practice time by an additional 30% over the other kids. This has a compounding effect - 30% more time invested each year, year after year, means that when you turn 18, and a hockey scout watches your team play hockey, you are probably going to stand out as some kind of super star.

In my speech Bold! I say that the first step in accomplishing a goal is to get out there on the edge and make it big. Our boldness toward choosing a goal provides us with the, excitement and passion that we are going to require on our journey. Anything less and we just won’t care enough. But the very first step in this process is to boldly BELIEVE that you ARE capable of doing it! Your belief will provide you with the motivation to invest the time and effort into achieving your goal because you will KNOW that you are capable of achieving success!

So what is it that YOU want to accomplish? Is it BOLD enough? And are you willing to go to work? If so, there is no limit to what you can accomplish. Believe in yourself and in the words of Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe: “What you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. For boldness have genius, power and magic in it.” BEGIN IT!

Greg Kolodziejzyk is a Motivational Speaker and successful software entrepreneur who holds 2 Guinness world records for the most distance travelled by human power in one day on both land and on water. For more information, please visit www.human-power.com

Making Money Online - Overcoming Your Fear of Failure

Wednesday 1 April 2009 @ 9:04 am

by earl stringer
There are millions of people all over the world just like you that would love to start making money online. The problem is, many feel that the thought of it sounds great, but the effort time wise and financially are to risky to even attempt getting involved in what I call “the ever growing business of making money online”.

This article will give you some advice on how to overcome your fear of failure when it comes to making money online. After reading this article you should feel a little more confident when it comes to cashing in on the big bad internet.

The first thing that you need to realize is that despite all of the “internet scam” stories and the “99% of home business’s fail” theory; money can be made online, and there are vast numbers of people who are doing it as me speak!

In fact, there are several ways to do so; but before you even think about choosing which method of earning money online to get into, you need to be sure of yourself and your abilities. You can’t sit back and say to yourself “I’m going to try to start making money online”, instead you need to be telling yourself “I am going to start making money online”. See, there is a very big difference in these two thoughts. Saying that you are going to try something is keeping that option open not to succeed, while saying that you are going to do something is eliminating that option. Determination and dedication are two of the most important key factors when it comes to being successful at making money online.

Unlike other situations in life, making money online is not really about who you know, it has a lot to do with what you know. Understand that if you really want to achieve your financial goals online that your fate is in your own hands. When I first started out, I just kept telling myself “if there really are people making real money online, then way can’t I be doing it also”. I am no different than anybody else out there, so if they can succeed than way couldn’t I?

The truth is, this is going to be one of the hardest jobs that you will ever have; but the outcome and the rewards will be well worth it in the end. You have to stay focused, dedicated and be willing to put in some REAL time and research to get to where you want to be financially.

Let’s be realistic why we’re at it, you are not going to become a millionaire overnight. If that was the truth, then more and more people would be trying to makemoey online. The truth is, you can make millions of dollars online, but you are going to have to work to get it!

Now it’s time for you to become a success story! Get out there, stay focused and start making those millions! The only one keeping you from that money and success is you.

Tips to help you live your Dream Life

Wednesday 1 April 2009 @ 8:04 am

by MAnish
So, now you have decided that you will change your life. You will live your life as you have always dreamed of. You will change your destiny and always live happy life. But the question is How to get started living your dream life?

On very first day of New Year, thousand of peoples take New Year resolution to make changes in quality of their life. They promise themselves to improve their life and be a completely new happy and funny person. Sometime, there are some crises or problems come in our life that awake us and realize us that we need to change our self. Whenever we fell in either situation, we feel that we are not happy and now we have to make big change in our life by changing our inner self.

But the problem is, most of people don’t know how to get started with the process of living happy life. They always speak of “Tomorrow” like “I’ll start from tomorrow” “I’ll change myself from tomorrow” etc and that tomorrow never comes. People don’t make any plan after deciding to change their life. They don’t take crucial step towards making tomorrow be TODAY. As a result, they give up soon and fall right back into their old life style.

If you fall in either category of giving up soon and don’t know how to get things done, then here are 3 easy tips to help you make most out of your life.

1- Inspirational Books are best source of knowledge. There are thousand of books available on developing a successful attitude. These self books will brighten your ideas and ennoble your soul and helps you remove monotony from life. Once you have developed successful attitude, you will that nothing is impossible for you and sky is the limit for you.
2- What is you dream? What kind of life you want to live? Ask your self these questions and write down the answers you get in a note book. Writing down your dream and define them. Don’t wait for tomorrow. Do it now. This will give you a clear goal what you have to achieve. This will also ensure to give you something concrete to pursue.
3- Believe in your self — One of the biggest barriers in the way of dream life is the lack of confidence. We don’t believe in ourselves. This is the truth that so many of us don’t enter into our dream life because we simply believe that this is for someone else. We don’t deserve it because we are not as lucky as someone else. I would say that is RIDICULOUS. Being so near to our dream life, we don’t enter in it simply because of our negative thoughts. God has made all of us and we all are equal. There is nothing like big or small. Just kick-out these negative feelings and believe in your self that you are as much deserving as anyone else.

I bet you if you follow all the above three steps, you will soon see dramatic change in your life. The worst thing you can do now is to wait for some more months and continue with your “I’ll do it tomorrow” and “I’ll do it later” attitude or just start following the above steps now and see how easily you can be in your dream life.

Visit our website to Learn lots of Funny Life Quotes and Funny Sayings which will help you develop your attitude as well as communication skills that will transform you into the person you see yourself in your dream life.
