Prepare for Luck Write Down Your Goals

Wednesday 31 October 2007 @ 10:10 am

by Roice Krueger
If you are prepared, when the opportunity presents itself, you get lucky. Consider this…

Oprah Winfrey was making The Color Purple and she was sitting at lunch with Steven Spielberg, arguably the world’s greatest director. He was writing in his journal the goals he was going to accomplish: He wanted to start a new company called DreamWorks with two partners, and he was going to make a billion dollars a year.

Oprah asked him, “Can I see your journal?” He handed it to her. After reading his goals, she inquired, “Do you mind if I copy that in mine?” Spielberg was thinking that she was going to copy DreamWorks. She took her name, Oprah, turned it backwards to Harpo Productions, and she wrote, “I need certain people as my partners, and I’ll make a billion a year!” The rest is history. She became the first female billionaire.

Why?

Luck favors the prepared. Part of your preparation is writing down your goals.

Oprah had prepared herself by writing in a journal. She saw her future. She saw a man who was doing the future. She modeled him. She said, “I am going to be a person of action.”

Writing down goals and ideas is spiritual law.

Ancient wisdom says, “Write a thing; make it clear; it shall be established unto you.” Some of you need to write down your goals.

I teach it this way: “Write 101 goals.” That is your preparation. Keep adding to it. Do not cross them out like items on a grocery list. Write down “Victory!” when you achieve them.

Oprah became the first female self-made billionaire in history. Many people would say that was luck.

It was preparation before it was luck!

She wanted to be in The Color Purple; she read the book 20 times, and she met Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones told Steven Spielberg, “You’ve got to have this woman in your picture!”

The rest is history.

So many people talk about wanting to be lucky. If you don’t feel as though you are lucky right now, then you need to focus on your preparation.

Develop the Discipline to Get Things Done Step 3

Tuesday 30 October 2007 @ 10:10 pm

by James Skinner
In the previous steps, we have primarily concerned ourselves with that which we are attempting to discipline ourselves and our organizations to do.

What do we need to do, when does it need to be done, and what are the guidelines for its actual execution that must be followed?

From this step onward, we will concern ourselves with how to achieve that discipline.

Step 3: Reinforcement
For discipline to be effective, it must be reinforced by appropriate feedback.

This requires measurement as well as the appropriate use of rewards and penalties.

Discipline is achieved through measurement and the appropriate use of
rewards and penalties.

This is true when we are developing discipline within ourselves as well as when we are working with others.

Human beings fundamentally function on the pleasure and pain principle. It is vital that disciplined behavior be rewarded and that failure to follow through carries immediate consequences.

Discipline fundamentally contributes to a sense of self-worth and, as such, is its own reward; but within organizations, discipline will typically occur only where compliance and performance are measured and where accountability is present.

Start with measurement first. You cannot improve something that you have not measured. Next look at how you give feedback, both to yourself and others. What rewards do you currently use to reward discipline, and what penalties do you use to discourage nonperformance? How could you make it even better? This step, perhaps more than any other, requires creativity.

Have fun with your rewards. Where appropriate, have fun with your penalties. But let there be no mistake that discipline is required!

Develop the Discipline to Get Things Done Step 2

Monday 29 October 2007 @ 10:10 am

by James Skinner
In life, all the rewards go to those who actually get things done. They go to those who have the discipline to do what they have set out to do. The rewards go to you.

Decide right now, what it is that you want, and what behaviors will give it to you.

Once you have decided what needs to be done, there are five steps to developing the discipline needed to do it. I’ve shared when to get things done, now let’s look at how.

Step 2: How
Now that you have decided what needs to be done and you have decided when to do it, the next step is to determine the guidelines on how it is going to be done.

This may sound simple, but it can actually be a little bit tricky. The reason is that even the most disciplined people and organizations often require flexibility to deal with changing situations on the front lines.

So when it comes to the “how,” there is a choice that needs to be made.

Some things need to be carried out in accordance with predetermined procedures. There is little room for variation. The procedure must be followed.

Other things need to be carried out based on established principles. There is more flexibility here for individual thought and decision making at the time of execution so long as the principles are adhered to and the end results are achieved.

Discipline requires a decision: Should behavior follow a predetermined process? Or, should it be empowered based on established principles?

In either case, for discipline to be effective, principles and procedures need to be established in advance to guide people’s behavior.

You can think of it this way:

Principles are rules or ideas that guide people’s behaviors, such as “Treat the customer with respect,” “Always act with integrity,” or “Put quality first.”

Procedures, on the other hand, lay out in detail what actions need to be taken and in what order, such as “Seal the envelope, apply a 25¢ stamp to the upper right-hand corner of the envelope, and then place the envelope in the postbox.”

Principles are used to govern behavior in situations where people are highly competent and where a great deal of leeway is required on the ground to adapt to changing circumstances.

Procedures are well suited to situations where more consistency is required, where people lack the competence to make decisions on their own, or where the environment is fixed and little adaptation is required.

Develop the Discipline to Get Things Done Step 1

Monday 29 October 2007 @ 3:10 am

by James Skinner
In life, all the rewards go to those who actually get things done. They go to those who have the discipline to do what they have set out to do. The rewards go to you.

Decide right now, what it is that you want, and what behaviors will give it to you.

Once you have decided what needs to be done, there are five steps to developing the discipline needed to do it. Here is the first:

Step 1: When
Once you know what you have decided what you will do, you need to decide exactly when you will do it.

Undisciplined people say things such as “I will do it when I get some free time,” or “I’ll get around to it as soon as I can,” or “One of these days…”

Disciplined and successful people decide in advance when they will do important tasks, when their reports will be submitted, and when their meetings will be held.

“One of these days” has got to start meaning “right now!”

Disciplined people act in response to predetermined “triggers.” These triggers take three primary forms:

In response to orders, commands, or requests
In response to a specific event
In response to a predetermined schedule

In other words, you preprogram your actions.

In disciplined organizations people know how to react to orders, commands, and requests from important customers. The response is immediate and consistent.

Some actions and behaviors take place in response to specific events. For example, when the fire alarm goes off, you have a predetermined process of what to do and how to act.

Pilots run a preflight checklist before taking off.
Effective executives have a predetermined process in place for dealing with customer complaints, employee grievances, litigation, and many other problems that they may encounter.

The third trigger for behavior, and perhaps most important to the disciplined person, is the schedule.

You have set up times and dates for things to happen.

Effective people live the schedule!
We have yet to see a single Olympic athlete who did not maintain a training schedule and live it to near perfection.

At what times and in response to what triggers will you carry out those tasks that are most vital to your success? (Pay particularly close attention to those tasks that must be completed on time or in a consistent ongoing fashion.)

How My Big Head Slowed Me Down

Sunday 28 October 2007 @ 4:10 pm

by Kim McGinnis
I was a shy little kid—actually I was more than shy. I was introverted to the point where if someone spoke directly to me, my body would tense up like a surf board, and my heart would send Morse code through my chest: “SOS”. My mind had its own agenda, rattling off messages to the tune of, “Whatever you do, do not say that, because you will look like more of an idiot than you do already.” So I did nothing. I remember these distressing occurrences more in Junior High when kids are especially not so nice.

Besides the whole shy thing, I was a big girl (I hate the word “fat”) during these difficult years. Packing on an extra 65 pounds left me even more vulnerable to the caustic remarks of my peers. (“Poor me!”) As a way to keep others from “getting” to me, I adopted a stance of superiority. Since, I had not allowed myself to communicate with them, I had built for myself, a comfy fortress of self-righteousness. The ego has gotten a bad rap from psychologists and metaphysicians, but it sure did save me at the time. Beliefs had built up in my consciousness about others and me that had caused a transformation in the way I interacted as a human being.

After a search of definitions for transformation on the website, I discovered many of them to be on the biological side of this question. A common definition goes something like this: “when a healthy cell goes through the process of becoming a malignant cell, a transformation has taken place.” Looked at this way, I suppose one could also claim transformation takes place when the cancerous cell goes through the steps to become a healthy cell. In other words, a person (or cell) once transformed, becomes something else.

Separatism had taken hold of me by the time I reached my first year of High School, and I did feel like a different person. My ego had become my friend, and I fed it on purpose. The journey to peel away my protective layers would take more years than it had taken to grow in the first place. Protection, took the form the isolation. Dualism became a natural, if unconscious, way of living. I didn’t like or trust people very much. I was right, and they were wrong.

Seeking solace in self-destructive habits seemed a good place to go from here. And so I did. Without dragging Pandora’s Box out of the closet (way too heavy), let’s just say I had pushed the brink of what I had found bearable. So, like trying to climb a one thousand-foot stepladder with a wounded soul-body, a heavy heart, and a BIG head, I slowly made my ascent. Now this wasn’t a twelve-step program, just so you don’t get the wrong idea—not that I have anything against these programs (I know they have helped many, many people)—it just wasn’t my bag.

Each step became a moment in time when I let go of my ego, gave myself a pat on the back, and silently whispered a kind word to myself. I also never forgot to say, “Thank you.” On a bad day I would slip a couple of rungs, but it became easier to keep climbing once I had a recent memory of a win. The mixture of strength and vulnerability was the new sensation I was hungry for (better than a bag of Doritos). It became not only an acceptable addiction, but also a healthy one.

I am still climbing this ladder today, and I’m not even sure how high I am. With each step I try not to look back or up ahead; being present leaves me with a feeling of calm that serves me well. I’ve accepted that I may not even reach the top (enlightenment?). Now when I slip back a rung or two (happens all the time), I don’t beat myself up. Replacing gratitude with judgment has made this journey much more pleasant. Life has become different than what I thought it was—creative and fun. My body feels lighter (about 125 pounds these days), my head has become more proportional to the rest of me, and the view is spectacular.

Motivation comes after action not before.

Sunday 28 October 2007 @ 4:10 pm

by Robert Pardon
Motivation, especially when it comes to recovery, is a hard to apply. Let me explain myself. A person who drinks and uses enough to consider themselves addicted require than a notion to change. Just as they didn’t wake up one day and decide to become addicted one doesn’t sit on the coach and say they are going to quit.

The addictive mind, when in the middle of its disease, is elusive, deceiving and confused. Although a person says or feels they want to change and get some help it is not that easy. There are forces beyond their control that get them to “put it off” until tomorrow and guess what tomorrow never comes.

What needs to occur, and strange as it may seem, is the person needs some to happen that will stop them in their tracks. That something needs to have the affect of a 2×4 across the back of the head. It has to literally cause them to pay attention to what is going on around them rather than getting high to mask what is going on inside of them.

Does that sound strange? Well, when you think about alcoholism or drug addiction think about a disease that tells you that you don’t have it. If that’s the case, and it is then what can stop a person long enough to consider another direction? The direction change has to be 180 degrees. Anything less than that is merely a detour and they have been taking detours for some time now.

Whatever it is that occurs to them and gets them to stop for a moment must be immediately followed with a newfound motivation to go in that other direction. Remember though, going in the other direction creates the motivation not the other way around. Nevertheless, when a person who seemed despaired of ever recovering from their addiction finally realizes it is in the doing before they motivated, then and only then will they be motivated to do more.

The idea of waiting to feel motivated before they do something is an idea started by people who don’t want to do something. The reality is for everyone of us, especially those in the midst of their addition, is we take action first and then we will be motivated and that point we will be motivated to do more.

Creative Dreaming And Intellectual Achivements

Sunday 28 October 2007 @ 3:10 pm

by Abu Aremu
Human beings are Spiritual Beings and are blessed with intellectual functions. The capacity of these functions is boundless. Creative Dreaming is an activity of the mind. And the mind is a powerful instrument for achieving individual and collective goals

Creative Dreaming is positive visualization of one’s ambitions. It is a deliberate effort directed towards achieving a target or progressive goal. It is a sublime, pure and Godly activity of using the mind to communicate with the Universal Supreme Power.

Creative Dreaming works in a simple and direct way. It is an aspect of Law of Attraction, which states that each person attracts to himself what he repeatedly has in his thoughts. It works in a way by sending your dreams to the subconscious mind, which in turn sends it to the Universal Supreme Power for materializations.

For Creative Dreaming to succeed, it must not possess any negative or harmful under-notions or aims. It must be positive and progressive. If properly nurtured, it is capable of becoming a reality, in a matter of time.

It is advisable that you do not repeatedly cast your mind back to the failures, set-backs and bad memories of the past. Doing this could lead to the dangers of sending bad information to your subconscious mind, which has the capacity of making such thoughts a reality.

This is why you are advised to nurture Creative Dreams. Think of the good things of life people around you have achieved. Meditate over these and set your dream rolling for achieving higher feats.

Everyday, things are getting better and clearer. There is a latest discovery from research in physics which shows that when you put your attention on what you want, it will immediately start to manifest into physical form. In other words if you persistently hold onto a dream and you emotionalize it, the Universal Supreme Power starts to materialize it into physical forms.

Therefore as a potential achiever in life, your job is to dream big dreams. You must have faith and trust in your dreams. And the dreams must be clear, tangible and precise. For example, if you are dreaming of possessing a large corporate entity of business, you must dream sitting in the chair of the CEO with the physical presence of barrage of secretaries, subordinates, managers, clerks, moving in and out of offices and attending to official duties. These physical actions must be clear in your mind.

To realize your dreams you must take the following actions:

(a)Each day, focus your mind on having achieved your goals by visualizing having got to the position already.

(b) Prepare for yourself daily affirmations statements which proclaims you as having achieved your goals as a right which the Creator has endowed on you.

(c) Create a detailed plan of what you will do now and everyday to move towards your goal. The plans could be 10, 20, 60 or 100 days.

TESTIMONY

This is a process I have adopted and used in writing my first novel as a non-starter in the 1980s. Having read numerous novels written by the likes of Harold Robbins, Leon Uris, Jacquline Suzan, Mario Puzo, Irving Wallace, James Hadley Chase etc I became obsessed with the idea of becoming a novelist.

It became a creative dream and from there the Universal Supreme Power took it up and it became a reality - published as KILL ME GENTLY a novel by Abu Aremu ISBN 978 164 127 4

Finding Free Subliminal Software

Saturday 27 October 2007 @ 11:10 am

by Trevor John
Subiminal messages are fun.

You can use them to positively affect your life and, by definition, you won’t even notice it happening.

That’s great.

But where can you find free subliminal software to put subliminal messages in your life?

That depends on what kind of subliminal messages you want.

If you spend a lot of time at your computer, start off with the kind of software that flashes pre-written subliminal messages onto your screen.

This works quite well and there’s a source for it in the link at the end of this article.

The only time you’ll consciously notice the subliminal messages is if your computer is working really, really hard (recalculating thousands of complicated formulas in an Excel spreadsheet, that kind of thing). Otherwise the messages will simply appear briefly on your screen. Your subconscious mind will notice them and will act on them. Your conscious mind will be oblivious as usual. Which, if you’re like me, means “no change there, then”.

If you are out and about, it’s worth recording your own subliminal messages to play on your iPod.

It’s easy to do and has a couple advantages:

  • It’s quick.
  • You know what the messages are saying because you recorded them.

So long as you’ve got a microphone on your computer, it’s a cinch to record your own messages. Chances are your webcam or laptop has a microphone built in. Which means you’re almost set.

The built in sound recorder in Windows isn’t really designed for anything complicated. So get hold of the exceptional (and free) Audacity. Use that to record your subliminal messages and then play around with the sound levels to overlay them over whatever track you like listening to.

Go ahead, experiment.

Or if you’re feeling lazy, just go out and buy a track that someone else has recorded.

Discover more about subliminal messages including where to find subliminal software to help you positively change your life.

Want to Change the Course of Your Life?

Friday 26 October 2007 @ 3:10 pm

by Deborah Akridge
You can change the course of your life by becoming a part of the BraveHeart Women Global Community. I learned a valuable lesson with this awesome community, as the German psychophysicist Ernst Weber stated, “The ability to detect small changes in the intensity of weak stimuli, but only large changes in the intensity of strong stimuli (Lahey, 2007).” Our combined efforts of our community are growing in strength as well as numbers. Secret codes have always been a hot topic for mystery writers, but The BraveHeart Women Global Community Code of Ethics of integrity is established in the hearts of our community members, and not on paper. “It is important to connect with people whose vision and aspirations are worth sharing, and whose integrity is strong, and also visualizing yourself to fulfill the same definition ~Ellie Drake.”

The sensations and perceptions of each community member are being received and organized for the interpretation of each member’s role of communication. My role of communication with the community became much easier to comprehend, as I was able to see the pattern of our combined efforts. I began to sense these accomplishments as they were being performed as:

· Communicating openly, but considering others’ feelings before speaking.

· Respecting others and being polite without pretending.

· Remembering to listen to all ideas and suggestions.

· Brainstorming for solutions.

· Reaching decisions without anger and tension.

· Eliminating pride when outside assistance is needed.

It is an enjoyment to learn and share ideas within the community. I have begun to establish communication with each of The BraveHeart Women Global Community members, and my communication needed to be accurate and precise, because it is often online collaboration. The non face-to-face communication with the community should be established with clarity approaching each contact until we are united together, as we attend group meetings for inspired events. I was encouraged to learn to embrace their individual personalities so that we could establish a unified community.

We have to come to an understanding of realization that the human mind has learning experiences that are a combination of ambitions, emotions, fears, as well as motivations, inspirations, and desires.

YOU are encouraged to learn how the mind works if you want to Change The Course Of Your Life. The BraveHeart Women Global Community is making contributions of inspiration and dedication to others to create a network of entrepreneurs and serious Home-Based Internet marketers. How to Be Lucky in Life

Friday 26 October 2007 @ 3:10 pm

by Roice Krueger
Fate favors the bold, the strong, insistent, consistent, and persistent person.

You may say, “Well, then, how does luck work?” Does it seem to you that there are people for whom everything just works out?

You might ask, “Why doesn’t that ever happen to me?” Then again, maybe it does and you just don’t notice.

As we look at all the luck that we have experienced in our lives, and remember all the lucky people that we have been privileged to associate with and learn from, it appears that there are some key principles used by all the lucky people we know.

Opportunity Must Show Up!
Some people say, “I need to have a great opportunity” or “That guy had a great opportunity show up.” But the fact of the matter is that opportunities are showing up all the time.

One of the other things I teach is that opportunity is the only thing that is unlimited in business.

Abraham Lincoln said, “If you prepare, opportunity must show up.”

Get the Skills
You’ve got to prepare for wealth, for happiness, for health, for friendship, for collegial relationships, and for your spiritual work. Whatever it is that you want to have in your life, you need to be prepared with skills.

It has to do with whether or not you are prepared, if you have the skills and the goals, and the dreams and aspirations. Then all the things that are necessary to make it happen show up.

We can really make our own fate by being bold. Boldness will create that fate, which will create that luck, if we are prepared, when we have that positive language, and if we associate with the right people.
